GARICA

The village of Garica is located 5 km from Vrbnik in the direction of the interior of the island. Garica has been revived by newly settled families and many tourists who find peace, preserved nature and a restful holiday in the renovated old stone houses or newly built holiday homes. In the village's centre there is a church dedicated to St Peter with a small square where each year the villagers and visitors enjoy the festivities on 29th June, the so-called Petrova, in honour of the patron saint of the village. If you would like to explore the surrounding area, there are a few hiking paths which you can take to the early mediaeval Church of St Chrysogonus with a splendid vista over the fertile Vrbnik field or you could walk to Gradec, the first castle of the famous Counts of Frankopan. At the foot of the hill is an idyllic little river valley over which the Napoleon Bridge was built during the French rule of the island.
